From the recording Jersey Stories Part 1

written 6/7/82-----
We would work on all these schools in Newark and Jersey City in the summertime and on lunch break I'd always find where the pianos were. I think I may have written this one on one such afternoon break. My dad would have been none too pleased if he had known what I was doing when I was supposed to be working...My buddy and scaffold partner Phil Castaldo sat there listening while I wrote this one that day.

Lyrics

I Ain't Been The Same

Well everyday I have to face myself
up to the fact that you ain't coming back
and everyday I have to find new ways
to convince myself I'm better off this way
oh but it's hard and I ain't been the same

and every morning if the sun ain't shining
it makes it that much harder
ever since we parted and went our seperate ways
I'm still trying to make a break away
oh but it's hard and I ain't been the same
no no no

and everyday I have to find new ways
to convince myself I'm better off this way
oh but it's hard and I ain't been the same
I ain't been the same
I ain't been the same
no no no no
